A canceled appointment hurts three people: you, me as your counselor, and another client who could have potentially utilized your time slot. Therapy sessions are scheduled in advance and are times reserved exclusively for you, the client. When a session is canceled without adequate notice, I am unable to offer this spot to another client.
Counseling should be viewed as any other important medical appointment. It is a time commitment that lends itself toward healing and an overall better life. Consistency is a critical key to achieving goals. You are investing in your wellness. Accordingly, the following policy has been outlined to ensure you get the most of your therapeutic process.
48-hour Cancellation Policy
You will be charged the session fee if you do not cancel 48 hours prior to the scheduled appointment. You can cancel your appointment by calling and leaving a voice mail message that you need to cancel.
The only time this fee will be waived is in the event of serious or contagious illness, emergency situation, or extreme weather. If you are unsure, please contact your therapist for further guidance.
If you miss your appointment, you will be charged the session fee.
Two consecutive missed appointments, without cause, can result in termination of the therapeutic relationship. Your case may be reopened at any time should you so choose, however you may be placed on a waiting list if there are other clients waiting to use your time slot. This is standard practice with most therapy agencies and private practice offices.
The responsibility for your care is on both on you as the client and is collaborative with your counselor. Therefore, if I as your counselor miss an appointment without notice, you will receive a FREE therapy session.
Thank you for your understanding. I look forward to beginning this therapeutic journey with you!
